Organising your wedding can a grueling task at the best of times. The team at Mudgee Weddings are sharing some of their tips with you and are happy to offer you this free wedding planning checklist to use as a guide in organizing your wedding event. While this may not be an exhaustive list it should set you off in the right direction.

The following is a guide and not a definitive schedule. All weddings are different and as such no responsibility is assumed by Mudgee Weddings should you use this planner.

6 to 12        
  Book the Church / Celebrant     Availability will determine dates you can Wed
  Meet with reception and ceremony venues     Ask for a sample / blank seating plan
  Decide the style of wedding (Formal / Casual / Themed)     Bear in mind elderly guests, locations and budget
  Make an appointment with the photographer/videographer     Inform them of the theme - get ideas and see their work
  Compose an approximate guest list - Do 2 lists     Must invite and Invite if budget allows
  Choose bridesmaids and groomsmen     Be traditional or creative with this
  Choose a location for photo shoot and ancillary activities     Bear in mind theme needs to match photo location
  Start shopping for wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses      
  Determine an approximate budget based on main factors above     Decide what factors are important to YOU.
  Meet with caterers if not included in reception venue     If not in a function centre, ensure caterer knows where they will be working and to ensure no "added costs". Ask for a tasting
         
5 months        
  Finalise guest list     This will change once RSVP's are received
  Finalise budget     Allow 10 - 20% flexibility for increases over the 12 months
  Confirm ceremony and reception venue bookings in writing      
  Confirm Videographer in writing      
  Confirm photographer in writing      
  Book caterer if not included in function centre      
  Get florist estimates and book in writing      
  Choose musician/DJ for reception     Function Centres may have regular "in house" DJ's etc
  Choose and purchase stationary including invitations and place cards      
  Order wedding cake     Confirm delivery date and times in writing
  Book transport for the day     Once again take your theme into consideration
  Get accommodation listing for your guests and check availability     This needs to go out with the invitations
  Book wedding night accommodation     Consider access to the airport if flying out the next day
  Confirm details for your wedding gown     Pay the deposit if required and confirm fitting dates
  Reserve any equipment - technical / catering etc     You may need to bring in various items to the centre
  Order and reserve suits for groom and groomsmen     Pay the deposit if required and confirm fitting dates
  Make honeymoon plans including insurance     Ensure passports etc are in order.
  Plan decorations for the reception and order   Subject to theme  
  Meet with reception functions manager and caterer to confirm     Confirm in writing and ensure you are happy with the time period
  Register with gift registry     Most major retailers can handle this
  Send out invitations     Include directions to ceremony location and reception venue also include accommodation contacts for your guests.
  Choose and order wedding bands     You can design your own and get them made for you or get retail
         
2 Months        
  Meet with celebrant / church to run over details     Ensure they know what you want and expect (discuss music etc)
  Confirm a date and time for the rehearsal     Notify wedding party of date and time to ensure availability
  Plan / make reservation for rehearsal dinner     Try to locate a restaurant with a private room where you can all talk
  Confirm wedding bands      
  Book hair and makeup appointments and trials      
  Confirm all services have been booked and confirmed in writing     Advise any changes in numbers or details
         
1 Month        
  Final gown/dress and suit fittings      
  Shop for accessories including bridal party shoes/jewellery      
  Confirm music arrangements     Ensure any music has had copyright paid on it
  Ensure marriage licence is under control      
  Confirm accommodation for bridal party      
         
2 Weeks        
  Have trial hair and makeup appointments      
  Check all attire for the bridal party      
  Organise name and address changes      
  Check with caterer and reception and make last minute changes      
  Organise any gifts for bridal party / parents etc      
         
1 Week        
  Confirm bridal party for rehearsal and dinner     Confirm booking with the restaurant
  Go over all the details of the ceremony and reception of the ceremony and reception      
  Appoint a family member/friend to pick up items left behind      
  Appoint someone to make any necessary payments on the day     Pre write cheques and advise suppliers
         
1 Day Out        
  Have manicure and pedicure     Treat yourself to a massage as well
  Rehearsal and rehearsal dinner      
  Give ushers the guest list and seating plans      
  Make sure the guys are organized     Ensure everyone has each others contact numbers
  Appoint one person to call each supplier to confirm delivery times
